SAP PO – Cannot alloc thread (rc = 2 out of memory)

Sometimes in default_trace and dev_server logs, You can observe warnings like in subject: “…*** WARNING => ShmThread_new: Cannot alloc thread (rc = 2 out of memory)…”

These warnings are saying the monitor table for java threads is full.

Solution

You’ll need to increase the number of thread slots.

To do this open ConfigTool and change “View” -> enable “Expert Mode” and change the parameter like on the below screen. Of course, change the value to what You need – but not less than 2,000 (that’s what SAP recommends).

At the end save configuration and restart SAP instance.
