SAP PO – ERROR com.sap.lcr.cimsrv.CIMOMServlet: Servicemethod terminated abnormally
The following errors appeared repeatedly in the SAP PO system logs:
ERROR com.sap.lcr.cimsrv.CIMOMServlet: Servicemethod terminated abnormally.
The traces showed failed requests to the System Landscape Directory (SLD), followed by HTTP 500 Internal Server Error responses. Below are the relevant log entries and the solution recommended by SAP Support.

The first entry shows the CIMOMServlet request terminating with the following exception:
com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.exceptions.WebInvalidSessionException: Method [setAttribute()] is called in an invalid session.
The stack trace includes CIMOMRequestHandler.getChangeLogEntriesUsingLookAhead, which points to the processing of SLD change log entries.

The next entry reports that the HTTP request to the CIMOMServlet in the SLD web application could not be processed. It contains the same invalid session exception and change log retrieval method.

The final trace shows an HTTP 500 Internal Server Error response for the /sld/cimom endpoint. The same exception appears again, linking the HTTP error to the failed CIMOM request.
Solution
In this case, the error was caused by a large volume of SLD change log data being processed by getChangeLogEntriesUsingLookAhead.
To address the issue, it is recommended to reduce the size of the SLD change log using the cleanup tool described in SAP Note 1799613 – SLD Change Log clean up tool.
Follow the cleanup instructions in the note. Afterwards, check the system logs to confirm whether the CIMOMServlet errors and HTTP 500 responses have stopped.
