SAP HANA Cockpit – automatically delete old backups

Since HANA Cockpit 2.0 SP07, new backup retention policy feature is available. It allows You after enabling retention policy automatically delete both old data backup and log backup. Below You’ll find short instruction how to do it.

Solution

Logon to HANA Cockpit and from the Database Directory, open a database.

Choose “Backup Configuration” under Database Backups tile:

And now under “Retention Policy” (1):

set “Automatically Delete Backup Generations” to “YES” (2).
set proper values for “Retain Backup Generations Younger Than” and “Minimum No. of Retained Backup Generations“. (3)
choose proper “Options for Backup Deletion“. (4)
set proper time for “Start Daily Automatic Deletion (UTC)“. (5)
don’t forget click “Save” at the end.
